What are teeth implants?
Implants explained
Instead of needing an individual implant for every tooth being replaced, a dental implant bridge is like a partial denture that is permanently fixed to your jaw using fewer grade 5 titanium implants. This reduces the amount of surgery needed, speeds up the treatment, improves recovery time and lowers costs.
Teeth implants are created using grade 5 titanium implants that are inserted through your gum into your jaw. It acts as a fixed anchor for an abutment, which protrudes through and out of your gum. The abutment is attached to a zirconia dental implant bridge that contains your perfect new teeth.
After your surgery on the same day that your teeth implants have been fit, you wear a temporary acrylic bridge until your final custom made zirconia bridge has been created. It typically takes 3-4 months for your gums to heal, during which you will have a trial fit of a wax prototype of your bridge to ensure the best possible end result.
Why grade 5 titanium implants?
Grade 5 titanium is medical grade and designed to prevent rejection. It is also corrosion resistant, giving these implants a long lifespan.
Why zirconia bridges?
Zirconia is a ceramic-coated metal known to produce comfortable dental prosthetics that look, feel and perform just like natural teeth.
Why do I need a temporary bridge?
Created from acrylic, a temporary bridge allows you to carry on your life while we craft your final bridge in our dental lab. The acrylic bridge is non-removable and designed to help keep your implants and abutments in place while your gums heal.
Teeth implants are often a last resort, replacing painful, worn, discoloured, crooked and missing teeth with new artificial replacements that look, feel and perform just like your natural teeth.
There are many potential reasons to consider teeth implants including:
- Stop pain affecting your ability to bite and chew
- Look younger with implants improving your face shape
- Improve confidence by filling gaps in your smile
- Replace damaged & discoloured teeth
- Speak clearly and confidently
Replace negative comments about your teeth with praise when you get teeth implants at your local Yorkshire Dental Suite clinic.
A single dental implant can hold a bridge containing multiple teeth. This means you can replace several missing teeth using fewer implants.
- Single implant bridge can hold two adjacent teeth in place
- Multiple teeth implant bridges containing three or more teeth will require more implants to be effective
- All-on-4 / full arch implant bridges use between four and eight implants to hold a full arch of up to 14 teeth
- Full mouth implant bridges use two arches to replace both upper and lower teeth
Teeth implants can also be differentiated by the materials being used.
- Temporary bridges use acrylic bridges and composite gum work
- Standard implants use monolithic zirconia bridges
- Premium implants use diamond cut zirconia bridges with individual crowns
The teeth implant process starts before you visit your local Yorkshire Dental Suite dentist. You will be called to discuss your treatment, cost and finance options. We will check your eligibility, provide recommendations and answer any questions you have.
Dental consultation and oral health-check
Visiting your local YDS clinic, you will be welcomed and introduced to your dentist. They will perform an oral health check, create 3D scans and photographs of your mouth to identify any issues that would prevent your teeth implant procedure from being successful. Your treatment plan will be created and costs or finance confirmed before your treatment begins.
If additional work is required to tackle issues like gum disease or bone loss, this work will be booked in before your teeth implant procedure can be started.
Teeth in a Day™ surgery
On the day of your surgery you will again be welcomed by your dentist. You will be sedated to make sure your treatment is completely pain-free, and you are relaxed. Any teeth needing to be removed will be taken out, your gums prepared and implants inserted into your jaw. A temporary dental implant bridge will then be fit, giving you new teeth in a day, before being sent home to heal.
Trial fitting
Revisiting your YDS dentist, a wax mock-up of your new bridge will be fit and more scans and photographs taken. This ensures your final bridge will fit seamlessly onto your implants, and your bridge looks natural in your mouth.
Final fitting
On your last visit to YDS your final teeth implants will be fit giving you a long-lasting smile that looks and performs just like perfect natural teeth.
Taking care of your new dental implant bridge is like caring for your normal teeth with one exception. You should pay particular attention to your gum line, making sure to remove any food and bacteria that could cause gum disease. If you have issues with this, please speak to your dentist.
Daily care:
- Gently brush every surface thoroughly using a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste
- Brush to the gum line to remove any bacteria
- Use interdental brushes or floss to remove food particles from between your teeth
- Rinse with a good quality mouthwash to remove bacteria
Further advice:
- Avoid hot food and drink for 24 hours after your treatment
- Avoid sucking on straws
- For the first few weeks after treatment eat soft foods and do not drink alcohol
- Take your antibiotics if required
- Treat pain with over-the-counter medication
- Avoid foods known to stain teeth, these include tomato based sauces, red wine, coffee and berries
- Stop smoking or vaping as this permanently discolours your implants

Teeth implants FAQs
The experts at Yorkshire Dental Suite answer the questions we frequently receive about teeth implants. If your query isn't addressed below, do not hesitate to contact us.
If you want cheap teeth implants, first check with your local NHS dentist. They will be able to advise if your damaged teeth are affecting your quality of life and if you are eligible for NHS treatment. The NHS provide a tooth implant as a Band 3 NHS treatment (which is the most expensive band), costing £319.10. Your teeth and gums need to be in good condition before teeth implants can be successful. Treating these issues could increase this cost.
Teeth implants in Turkey sound like a great idea. You get new teeth implants cheap and have a holiday at the same time. However, if you scratch the surface they may not seem as cheap as you expect.
Wrong and unnecessary treatments
A BBC documentary titled 'Turkey Teeth: Bargain smiles or big mistake' canvassed hundreds of Turkey teeth providers and found that over half of these clinics recommended treatments that were unnecessary or were a more destructive treatment than necessary. For example, one patient was sold veneers but had a full set of crowns instead. She was promised they would last a lifetime when the lifespan of crowns is between 15 and 20 years. This locks Turkey teeth patients into needing updates or alternative treatments sooner than normal. This cost adds up, making the cheap-up front cost not representative of the lifetime cost incurred to maintain your teeth
A week is not long enough for your gums to heal
Turkey teeth implants are typically completed in a week or two. This is problematic for a number of reasons as most UK implant treatments take between three and four months to complete. This is because it takes several months for your gums to heal and, during this time, your implants and gum shape can move. While this is happening, UK dentists take time to craft your crowns or bridges so that they fit perfectly, look natural and are durable. Can the same be said for Turkey teeth?
Low-quality materials
Teeth implants should be created from grade 5 titanium. This prevents the body from rejecting the implant and ensures no corrosion, improving the lifespan of the implant. Turkey teeth often use grade 1 or 2 titanium or worse, do not disclose the type of materials used. This causes issues within a few years, resulting in the need for replacement implants well ahead of time.
Quality control
Cosmetic dental clinics in Turkey do not have the same high standards demanded from UK dentists. UK dentists, nurses and orthodontists are governed by the General Dental Council (GDC) and practices monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). These governing bodies ensure standards of patient care and dental procedures.
No support from UK dentists
If you have teeth implants in Turkey, most UK dentists will not be able to support you should you have future dental issues. This is because to treat you, the dentist would need to accept liability for an overseas dentist’s work. YDS can in some circumstances help. Please contact us if you are experiencing issues with your Turkey teeth.
If the upfront cost is your only concern then choose Turkey teeth… if you want to prevent unwanted expenses and dental problems in the future you should consider a UK dentist like Yorkshire Dental Suite.
False teeth implants use dental implants to secure an acrylic denture in place. This denture is removable, allowing it to be cleaned. Also known as snap-on dentures, this is a popular alternative for patients who do not fit the criteria for full dental implants.
They cost from £29,995. This includes two monolithic bridges containing approximately 10 teeth each, giving you a beautiful, hard wearing and natural-looking smile. These bridges are supported by at least four dental implants in a procedure called all-on-4 dental implants.
Yorkshire Dental Suite offer a premium alternative to the above. Costing £49,995, this upgrades the zirconia bridges with individually positioned porcelain crowns. This creates a smile that is almost indistinguishable from a perfect set of natural teeth.
Teeth implants last up to 20 years with proper care. To keep your implants looking pristine, please follow the hygiene steps outlined by your dentist and attend regular appointments with a dental hygienist. You should stop smoking and avoid foods that can stain your new teeth.
Teeth implants are available on the NHS if you are unable to wear dentures and your teeth are damaged by an accident.
Damage caused by your lifestyle is not covered by NHS treatments. This means if your teeth are loose, painful or missing caused by neglect or smoking, then your only option is to seek private treatments.
Dental implants for front teeth replace your upper or lower teeth if they become damaged or have been taken out for medical reasons. From a single tooth to zirconia bridges containing two or more teeth, this is an effective way to create a beautiful new smile. Each of your front teeth is replaced with a titanium implant capped with a single crown or bridge. This gives you a natural-feeling bite that is pain-free.
Implants do not hurt. With dental sedation your teeth implant procedure will be completely pain-free. As your gums heal you may experience some discomfort, which can be treated with the over-the-counter pain medication of your choice. If you continue to feel discomfort, please contact your local Yorkshire Dental Suite dentist.
Same day teeth implants replace painful, worn, damaged and missing teeth in around seven hours. The treatment starts with scans and photographs. You will then be sedated so you do not feel any pain. At the end of the day, you will have dental implants fitted and temporary crowns or bridges, giving you a beautiful new smile. Your temporary teeth will remain in place for the next 3-4 months while your gums heal and your new teeth are custom made for you.
Some dentists will fit gold implants. However, the experts at Yorkshire Dental Suite recommend against this. Placing any metal tooth next to a natural tooth will cause excessive wear and tear. This means future complications and expense.
An implant-supported bridge is a ceramic-coated prosthetic that contains two or more teeth. This is supported by one or more grade 5 titanium implants. Instead of having each individual tooth replaced with its own implant, an implant-retained bridge can support several teeth on a single implant. Yorkshire Dental Suite creates dental implant-supported bridges using ultra-aesthetic monolithic zirconia, which looks and feels natural in your mouth.
The downside of teeth implants starts with the procedure being non-reversible. Implants last up to 20 years, meaning they will need renewing or replacing with an alternative treatment at some point in the future.
Implants look and perform just like a natural tooth. This also means they are not indestructible and can chip and crack just like an ordinary tooth. The good news is that broken implants can be replaced.
A small percentage of dental implant procedures can fail. This chance increases if you continue to smoke. A failed implant is removed, and your gums allowed to heal. After this the procedure can be started again.
To keep your dental implants white you will have to restrict your diet, avoiding hard and crunchy foods, and drinks and sauces that can stain or damage your new teeth. Implants cannot be whitened once in place.
The main difference comparing an implant vs bridge boils down to what sits on top of a grade 5 titanium implant. This is in turn governed by the number of teeth being replaced.
Single tooth dental implant
A single dental implant replaces a single tooth and is topped with a custom made porcelain crown.
Implant-retained bridge
A dental implant-retained bridge can again be supported by a single implant but contain a monolithic zirconia bridge containing two or more teeth. This helps you span bigger gaps in your smile without needing unnecessary surgery.
